Beat the Bots was started in 2022 by best friend and beach buddy duo Ezra and Brianna-Lynn.

While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Ezra sent out probably a hundred resumes the summer before classes started and never heard back from anyone. He ended up working odd jobs such as delivery driver, handyman, personal chef, personal assistant, tutor, pet sitter and grocery store baker to make ends meet, all while attending class full time.  

After graduation, he read an article from The Harvard Business School (read it here if you have an hour!) about how most companies use something called ATS to pre-screen applications. This type of software is written by tech bros who just want to sell a product and it often results in a lot of qualified people not getting jobs.

That study above estimated there are as many as 27 million people in the U.S. alone who aren’t getting the work that they want and qualify for because of weird formatting!  

Ezra did some research on how to un-fuck his resume and ended up getting hired at his current day job within a week! He was angry he had wasted so much time applying to so many positions and decided to start teaching classes about what he learned at his local Community Center, as well as helping out friends and family. 

When Brianna-Lynn was new to the city and struggling to find work, she turned to Ezra, who helped her reformat her resume using the methods he was teaching at the Community Center. With his help, she got a new job in marketing within a week! 

Together, Ezra and Brianna-Lynn decided to help combat all the bad information out there on job hunting that had cost them each hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars.
